Allison Bentley

Research Software Engineer

Allison joins OxRSE from a background spanning distributed systems, machine learning, and cross-platform software engineering. She holds an MASc in Mechatronics Engineering and a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Her master's research focused on neural architecture search for real-time autonomous vehicle control, combining simulation interface design with a distributed inference pipeline for wide searches under strict latency constraints.

Before joining Oxford, Allison was a founding engineer at Mycro Harvest, an agricultural technology startup, where she led development of the full software stack. She has also built a variety of open-source projects including a distributed filesystem using consensus protocols and erasure coding, and an end-to-end encrypted location sharing app with native iOS and Android clients backed by a Rust core library.

Allison's interests lie at the intersection of systems programming, applied cryptography, and robust software design, with particular experience in Rust, Python, and cross-platform development. She is an advocate for privacy-first architectures and open technologies.
